Level 2: Sub-national Units
Level 2 Spatial Standards are implemented on Sub-national units (Division/State/Province level) for all the Taiyo data products. These standards are adhered globally and can be used as reference for the analysis purposes across data For this purpose, We will be using ISO 3166-2 which is part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and defines codes for identifying the principal subdivisions (e.g., provinces or states) of all countries coded in ISO 3166-1.
Some of the foundational challenges facing data and analytical community are:
- sub_division_name: Name of the subdivision. The variations in the subdivision name founds across data products
- sub_divison_code: ISO 3166-2 code of subdivision strictly followed by ISO
- sub_division_level: this includes the subdivision level (e.g. states, Union Territory, Province, Economic Region etc.)
- sub_division_polygon: bounding boxes for subdivision level.This is a separate geojson file.
- country_code_2: It is ISO 3166-1 Alpha-2 code used for countries. It maps spatial details from Level-1 (Country) to Level-2 (sub-national)
- country_code: It is ISO 3166-1 Alpha-3 code used for countries. It maps spatial details from Level-1 (Country) to Level-2 (sub-national)
